The other day I got an email from a guy who objected to the show being called “Die, Covers, Die.” Why? Because he makes his living from doing covers. Okay…well, so does Erin Harkes, and SHE didn’t get a bug up her ass over the show name. He said things about how new songs are an assault to the ears, and that I will find I’m running a “Gong Show.”
Some people are humorless dicks. And some people can’t handle the fact that their originals were rejected. So they adopt this mentality that all the good songs in the world were already written. I bet that is what happened to this guy.
Why can’t I take this guy seriously? First of all, if you start listening to the trolls then you will never get ANYTHING done. Second, no one other than myself and 2-3 other people have heard the show yet…so how can anyone just make the assumption that all the songs I picked are bad?
Maybe as the host of the show I should be a little more professional, but then again there is nothing wrong with keeping it real. And that is exactly what I want to do by saying right here and now…

I’m doing what, in my heart, I know is a good thing for this area’s music scene. Either keep up the pace to stick with me, or eat my dust, you insensitive fuck. (MAJOR brownie points to anyone who knows that lyrical reference.)
So keep the ignorant insults coming. All you’ll do is strengthen my resolve to get this show rolling out. Now I am TWICE as determined to get there!

yep sounds about right, Its sad really, to have enough talent to play covers but no clue when it comes to your own stuff, than again it would be near impossible to write something that does not sound exactly like the covers you have listen to and played for the last decade, creating a false bias, take a brake listen to nothing outside of your own writing for a year see what you come up with then. I bet would learn something.
